简介
Pixel Glass is a compilation album containing the collaborative works of Juja, Auriplane, Adam Cartwright, and Careless (Random Encounter), who all met on the internet. Tracks for Pixel Glass were recorded, mixed, and mastered in various home studios across the country. While half of the album was arranged and recorded in under a month many of the shorter tracks represent the rerecorded and remixed versions of Juja and Auriplane’s older work. Careless and Juja initially set off to create an album and subsequently promote it through a national tour. The time crunch to reach their deadline put a lot of stress on their shoulders and they recorded the entire Castlevania set from their respective states (Florida and Utah), while Roman Dunn mixed and mastered it from New York. This was all done in under 48 hours, and while the drums were being recorded in an apartment complex (being played softly to avoid waking a neighboring baby), the keyboard tracks were already being simultaneously recorded to a metronome. The vocals and translation of the lyrics to in Dancing Mad (recorded at a studio in Boston) were done by friends found through the internet and were completed two years prior (with the drums, at the same time as Random Encounter’s Sonic Suite) while other tracks like Cave Story were last minute additions added on a whim. The art for Pixel Glass represents a mix of work from Adam Cartwright (color/sketches) and Justin Anderson (sketches), and contains a hidden snail. The art contains strong imagery based on Castlevania, Final Fantasy VI, and Final Fantasy VII and inspired the album’s title, which was adopted 48 hours before the album was released.
