I’m 17 years old, a senior at Jefferson Academy Charter School in Westminster. I’ve been performing for 8 years and started writing music last December. Right now I have 8 originals with 4 more in the works. "For You" isn’t about anyone in particular, but most of my songs have lyrics talking about relationships and making the best of your circumstances or something of that sort. When I’m writing, I usually start with chords on my guitar or piano, then the words fall into place depending on the melody I make and the feel of the song. I have one song on my demo cd, "Hali’s Song" that the lyrics were written by my cousin Karisa Nickell. She had a friend, Hali, that passed away in December 2007 from brain cancer. Karisa's emotions were written so well that I was honored to put them to music. We both hope that this is a great tribute to Hali. "Go All Out" is a great motivating song if you're struggling with a tough decision in your life. I wrote it right after deciding to tackle a recording career. I’m getting back in the studio in November to record at least 3 more songs, but I’m also working on a 2-hour set (with covers) to have ready for the local music venues. I played a few private parties over the summer and I’m still enjoying open mic nights at Jordan’s Bistro and Grill on Wednesdays and occasionally the D Note in Old Town Arvada on Mondays. For now I’m keeping busy singing the National Anthem at some of the Colorado Eagles Hockey games, Jefferson County Public Schools’ special events and various high school sporting events. I also play on the worship team at Flatirons Community Church in Lafayette.
