简介
The album begins with the rowdy, two-chord pint-raiser “Badger Blood” where everyone joins the chorus “bathe your brother in the badger blood!” between rousing fiddle and dobro solos. Second is the fast-paced “Narwhal,” a hot instrumental like you might hear happening upon a secret gypsy campfire. Third comes the ode to momentary summer romance “Slipping Through,” with its acoustic reggae groove and backup singing, and sweet mandolin solo. The fourth track is “Viper James,” a hard-swingin’ little yarn about a Johnny Appleseed type character and his quest for “making little trees into little clouds”. Fifth is “Four Winds,” a rockin' country anthem about the awakening of wanderlust, and answering the call of the road. The sixth tune is “Virginia’s Fair Daughters,” the simple waltz about a young man, musician, traveler, who imagines being called back home after choosing a life of adventure over love. Seventh is “Sand Grain,” the bluesy, dylanesque song-romp about measuring up to heroes past and present and discovering the artistry of being yourself. “Swallow’s Wings,” is a lilting jazz ballad sung by Aimee Curl and Morgan Morrison about the curiosity of toiling away at nothing amid the wonder of the world. Nine finishes it up with “Chicken to Change,” a funky, rap epic jam number that explores the reality of change in the world via the self.
