​Making a name for yourself in South East San Diego isn’t easy. Very few are lucky to follow their dreams. But for one individual armed with a pencil, paper, and a talented mind full of lyrics his dream became a reality. Carlos Bobadilla, (stage name Bubba Toaks), was born September 1989 in San Diego to Guatemala immigrants who came to the United States for a better life and endless opportunities for their family. His mother work as a house keeper Their first home was an apartment in East San Diego on Euclid Ave. Then the family moved to OAK PARK when he was 5 and they haven't moved since. The family matriarch always took care of her family and instilling family values that are present in her children today. Six months after moving his father was a victim of an attempted carjacking and as a result was in a coma for threeweeks and was left blind. His injuries were so severe he was unrecognizable. His mother needed to give his father extra care Bubba Toaks was put in a 6-6 program and also played little league from t-ball to baseball continuing freshman year of high school as well as football in high school. He attending school in another district to get a better education. ​Bubba Toaks grew up on the South Eastside of San Diego. He had a passion for music and in 2001 he began writing his own music. In middle school he started recording from home onto a tape recorder using beats from his computer speakers. In 2003 recorded his first actual song from a friends closet in his house. At 20 years old he had his first performance in 2010 and he hasn’t stopped. He started to try to get the gang bangin homies to get on the same page with him but they didn't want to hear that, however they loved the fact he was rapping the truth and he reps the hood. He has performed at some local San Diego hotspots like “La Luz and Kava Lounge” and has had a good growing fan base. Some of his influences were “Tech Nine, Bone Thugs in Harmony, Snoop Dogg and Dr.Dre”. In 2013 he met Jazz Williams of Hookmasters Studio, (formerly The Batcave), and recorded his first professional studio produced song, “Still On Probation (mixtape)”. Bubba Toaks has developed a good rapport with Jazz and has been and intends on continuing his work with him in the future. Bubba Toaks also has an extended family that have his back, Hustle Mac, Eddie Cardenas, Dago Funk, Calico Da Don, and Jay Beatz just to name a few. Family is everything to him and there are good times and bad. In 2012 he celebrated the births of a son and daughter. Not twins but one born in the early part of the year and one in the latter. He wants to continue his career to make a better life for his children and making a difference in their future. Both children are $ years old. Sadly, in 2015 his father passed away in January due to complications from a stroke leaving the family devastated and heart broken. ​2011-present Bubba Toaks has been actively performing around San Diego at many different venues. He uses social media to saturate his music to the masses and is making a name for himself mainstream. This artist delivers verses like a seasoned pro and wants to go on to become the single most influential entertainer in rap today.
