简介
From her website: Cindy Doire’s new album is her third — her two previous CDs, both in French, won her fans in Quebec and Europe. Her first CD interpreted French folk/jazz material, the second, Chapeau de Pluie, was produced by Colin Linden in Nashville. Her first “English” album, however, is much edgier pop material, alternately world-weary, sexily confidential and triumphant. Born and raised in Timmins, and now based in Toronto, bilingual Doire is an inveterate traveler — she’s also fluent in Italian and Spanish — who has taken her music across Canada, and has also lived in Mexico. With a wide musical palette to draw from — she’s as familiar with French chansonniers as she is with the work of Janis Joplin and classic American r&b stars — she’s an intriguing songwriter. Key tracks on the new CD include “Don’t Let the Bastards Get You Down,“ “Sp[ill Me Down the River,” and “Singer Speaks in Tongues.”
