简介

Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi was an Indian sage who gave up his family and studies after a spiritual experience at the age of 16 to live at the holy mountain Arunachala for the rest of his life. His simple way of life and profound yet direct teachings, stressing the unity of the one Self behind all names and forms, made him one of the most respected Hindu saints of the 20th Century in both India and throughout the Western world. "Nothing to Realise: Eleven Truths from Sri Ramana Maharshi" is an album of English-language songs using words by the Maharshi, set to music by clarinettist Huw Lloyd. The tracks available here feature vocalist Julianne Spicer and two of Tokyo's finest jazz musicians, Takashi Igarashi on guitars and Kentaro Ebiko on bass. Although the relaxed atmosphere of this album makes it ideal for casual listening, it's real value lies in the depth of the words that are at it's heart. Recorded by Philipp Potz on November 18th and 19th 2009 at Hayama-cho Fukushi Bunka Kaikan, Kamakura, Japan. Julianne Spicer - vocals Huw Lloyd - clarinet Takashi Igarashi - guitars Kentaro Ebiko - bass Produced by Huw Lloyd. Mixed by Philipp Potz. All music © Huw Lloyd except “Ramana Sadguru” and “Arunachala Shiva” (traditional Indian songs). Words used by kind permission of Sri Ramanasramam, Tiruvannamalai. Mastered by Alessandro Vanara. “Deliverance” edited by Julianne Spicer. 1. Knowledge implies ignorance of what lies before what is known. Knowledge is always limited. 2. All beings desire happiness always, happiness without a tinge of sorrow. At the same time everybody loves himself best. The cause of love is only happiness, so that happiness must lie within oneself. 3. That which is does not even say 'I am'. For, can any doubt rise that 'I am not'? 4. Realisation is our nature. It is nothing new to be gained. What is new cannot be eternal. Therefore there is no need for doubting if one would lose or gain the Self. 5. One cannot see God and yet retain individuality. The seer and the seen unite into one Being. There is no cogniser, nor cognition, nor the cognised. All merge into One Supreme Siva only! 6. There is in fact nothing but the Atman. The world is only a projection of the mind. The mind originates from the Atman. So Atman alone is the One Being. 7. Knowing one's Self is only being one's Self, as there is no second existence. This is Self-realisation. 8. THAT is which all these world are fixed, of which they are, from which they all arise, for which they all exist, because of which they all come into being, and which they verily are. THAT alone is the Real, the Truth. That is the Treasure in the Heart. 9. The Self is that where there is absolutely no 'I'-thought. That is called 'Silence'. The Self itself is the world; the Self itself is 'I'; the Self itself is God; all is Siva, the Self. 10. Reality must be always real. It is not with forms and names. That which underlies these is the Reality. It underlies limitations, being itself limitless. It is not bound. It underlies unrealities, itself being real. Reality is that which is. It is as it is. 11. Lord of my Life! I have always been at Thy Feet, like a frog which clings to the stem of the lotus; make me instead a honey bee which from the blossom of the Heart sucks sweet honey of Pure Consciousness; Then shall I have deliverance.
