Alex Radus is proud to make his home in the beautiful and artistically rich Lehigh and Delaware River Valley region. But his music draws from across the American songwriting spectrum and beyond. As a result, Radus’ songwriting leapfrogs across genres, often blurring the lines between them. Radus has toured the country extensively, recorded multiple albums, and won numerous awards and critical acclaim for his songwriting and performing. Radus has been heard on WXPN, WSTW, performed live on Wisconsin Public Radio’s Higher Ground with Jonathan Overby, and played at numerous festivals and famed clubs such as MusikFest (Bethlehem, PA), AntiFolk Fest (NYC), Augusta Heritage Fest (Elkins, WV), Club Passim (Boston), Tin Angel (Philly), and Eddie’s Attic (Atlanta, GA). Radus’ newest release, Jewels & Tinware illustrates the breadth of his songwriting. Beginning with the funk and blues inspired Genius, J&T moves next to Alex’s jazz-standard inspired originals, and even taps into the great American songbook with a very new take on the Rodgers & Hart classic, My Funny Valentine. Of course, the jazz portion of J&T includes fan favorite We Can’t Play Like Django (feat. Dave Cahill). The back half of J&T moves on to embrace Radus’ Americana roots, hailing back to his days as an instructor and student at West Virginia’s famed Augusta Heritage Center. These songs draw from the great American traditions of bluegrass, country, folk, and gospel. Radus’ previous release, Love Me Like You Hate Me, is equally genre-defying. LMLYHM is as moody as its name suggests, and features the lush production of Radus’ frequent collaborator and friend, Lance Davis. LMLYHM spans the gulf from Americana TrashCan Blues, to Post-Folk, Acoustic SadBastard and Country Noir. Prior to his solo career, Radus’ won critical acclaim with the Folk Noir duo, Duende, from 2000-2005. Duende was a classic road-dog project, racking up many fans and many miles in a tiny Toyota Corolla. Duende had the honor of opening for the legendary Richie Havens and built a strong following in the New York City Anti-Folk scene, performing with acts such as Regina Spektor, Nellie McKay, and Chris Barron.
