简介
Band Bio: ADDverse Effects, from Portland, OR by way of Norman, OK, has been crafting their unique blend of live Hip-Hop since 2012. With influences ranging from De La Soul to Frank Zappa, and inspired by the thought of using a full live band as an MPC sampler, they have managed to blend and bend genres while staying incredibly true to the late 80's early 90's Hip- Hop roots they grew up on. Fronted by their socially informed and incredibly entertaining lead MC Joshua 'Fiji' Rehanek, you can trust that the party will be brought from the word GO. Band leader, Boyd Littell, crafts a perfectly nostalgic boom-bap on his live kit while also taking the time to pull some carefully crafted verbal calisthenics while maintaining the kicks and claps. ADD to that the experimentally funky bass riffs from the mad scientist Benja Farber, some oh-so-tasty Rhodes chords and synth patches from Professor Spencer 'Keys' Finnan, and the type of rockstar chops that could only come from the axe-wielding Vincent Jaime and his 2002 Gibson Les Paul Standard and you've got one of the most potent live Hip-Hop acts in the country. ADDverse Effects released their debut EP 'Just A Taste' March 26th, 2015 which spent time in the Top 50 on the iTunes Hot Indie Hip-Hop chart and has garnered critical acclaim around the country. The lead single 'Just A Taste' was selected as one of the Top 50 songs of 2014, in Oklahoma, by The Spy/NPR. On October 21st, 2016 the band will independently release it's debut full-length album, 'A Good Problem To Have,' a 64-minute 13-track culmination of the bands first four years together featuring artists from both Oklahoma and Portland, creating the perfect blend of rhyme and time. With a sound rooted deep in the foundations of Hip-Hop, that is able to branch out from Reggae, to acid jazz, to punk, to new wave, ADDverse Effects is creating its’ own lane while bringing the party and positivity with every sound they create. Album Bio: Three years; two states (Oklahoma & Oregon);three studios (Blackwatch, Acorn Sound Production, B-Side Studios); and 11 artists all uniting to form a 13-track, 64-minute salute to Old School Hip-Hop. 'A Good Problem to Have' primarily combines the socially conscious yet party ready lyrics of Emcee Joshua 'Fiji' Rehanek with production ideas Drummer/Band Leader, Boyd Littell, had saved from his Hip-Hop head days of the early 90s. Benja Farber (bass), Michael Stafford (Keys), and John Calvin (guitar) round out a bulk of the recording and add their own MPC sample-styled flair to the mix. Additional appearances from Justin Dupuis, Vincent Jaime, Corey Heppner, Brandon Lindsey (guitar), Spencer Finann (Keys), and the almighty DJ Timmy B (DJ) make sure the record is diverse enough to traverse multiple genres while always remaining true to the classic Hip-Hop roots the album grows from. ADDverse began recording at acclaimed Blackwatch studios (The Flaming Lips & Sufjan Stevens) in the Spring of 2013. Originally engineered by Jerrod Evans and the Blackwatch team, a good 80% of the album was recorded in Norman, OK, before the project was temporarily shelved. The album was picked back up by Gene Rowan of Acorn Sound Production, in the Spring of 2016, 2 years after the band had relocated to Portland, OR. Rowan handles a bulk of the mixing and all of the mastering duties as well as some of the remaining recording duties on the album. Tracks ‘Trance’ & ‘Dark Knight’ were the final tracks to make the album, recorded at B-Side Studios in Portland.
