The international competition of jazz artists “Sony Jazz Stage” in Riga, Latvia was founded in 2004 by Contemporary Music Centre in corporation with Sony Latvia. The competition introduced the audience with the best of new talents. Laurelled participants of the competition have made a good use from the recognition received, they participate in international festivals and competitions, perform in various music clubs, etc.

“Sony Jazz Stage” knows no style boundaries and welcomes all musical instruments. The essence of jazz is understood in its widest possible sense here; the atmosphere of the competition is truly creative and no academic stiffness is present.

The highlights from festival’s existence until year 2008 are represented in this album. Prizewinners reveal their talent here in various international combinations that have already been highly acclaimed in recitals and clubs around the globe.
