简介
I was inspired to write “Saving Freedom, Precious Freedom,” following the tragedy of 9/11. But what I wanted to write was a song that was uplifting, patriotic, and resonated for all Americans, with a melody that is contemporary yet echoes a traditional American anthem. I visualized Old Glory waving in the wind, symbolic of this country’s pledge of liberty and freedom for all who live under its skies. The lyrics are a wake-up call about the fragility of the precious gift of freedom, which we inherited and are obligated to preserve and pass on to future generations. I hope “Saving Freedom, Precious Freedom,” will inspire you. Thank you for listening! ABOUT THE SONG: “Saving Freedom, Precious Freedom” was premiered aboard the USS Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum for the 2001 “Salute to Freedom Dinner” honoring then New York State Governor George Pataki, NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani and the police, fire and emergency management heroes shortly after 9/11. It was also performed at the Solders', Sailors', Marines', Coast Guard and Airmen's Club reception for the US Army’s 10th Mountain Division upon their return from Iraq and at the United States Merchant Marine Academy. “Saving Freedom, Precious Freedom” was showcased at HBO’s New York theatre for the Vietnam Veterans of America’s “Broadway to Baghdad” gala for the benefit of the veterans, wounded soldiers and their families. The event was co-sponsored by HBO and U-HAUL. It was featured in the compilation DVD “Thank You For Serving,” which was released and distributed worldwide in 2007 to the USO, military hospitals and bases around the world, as well as to the troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.
