When I thought about the lyrics of this song, I recalled various situations that I had recently encountered within one month’s time, one thing after another. With the many trials in my life and overcoming many obstacles, I consider myself, “A Diamond In The Rough”, Isaiah 49:2-3 (KJV) 2 And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me; 3 And said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified. Being a Masterpiece of God, a voice in the Earth, is purpose fulfilled. God has given me a gift to write and a VOICE (Victory Over Imposed Circumstances Encountered) to reach the masses to encourage them that "God Won't Fail"! In the words of Job 13:15, Though He slay me, YET will I trust HIM! This verse spoke and motivated the song. My encouragement to all, trust God, even when it doesn't look like it, feel like it, or sound like it, take God at his word and be confident in knowing that He Won't Fail! Years ago, growing up in Urbana, Arkansas; my grandmother prophesied and spoke into my life, as I was the kitchen hairstylist doing wash and sets and Jerri Curls. She loved the way I shampooed and did her hair. She stated that my hands were made to bless, and they were going to be used to make a difference in the lives of people… After accepting my calling into ministry in January 2012 as a proclaimer of the gospel, writing my sermons would be challenging at times, but creative. Her words came back to me while I was pursuing Cosmetology in 2013-2015. But what really brought about a “light bulb moment” of an epiphany was when I started writing gospel songs and the lyrics ministered to me. I thought one day, “God, was Mary C. Jones talking about making a difference in people’s lives like this?” Even then, little did I know, God was speaking through her to me. I want to thank God for this awesome gift in penning his words and using his voice to bless kingdoms and nations. I thank my family for the support and encouragement. I thank God for the encouragement of Minister Willis Carson, “Will C” and the connection with an awesome musician and producer, Cap. I had encountered two individuals to work with on this project here in Texas, but that didn’t work out for me. But driving three hours to Oklahoma City was obviously the plan that God had for me. I want to thank my niece Sharde for the photo shoot and make-up along with my daughters, Kela and JaNaya which is on “fleek”. I thank God for my son, Armani that loves the beats . I thank Brok for designing my artwork for the CD cover. I thank God for my husband, Anthony Walker for his support with whatever I need and needed to accomplish the plans that God has for me. I heard the voice of the Lord say, “Let Your Faith Do The Walking”! God Made Me who I am, Yolanda Shurvon Walker…. YSW (You Shall Win)!
