简介

The wickedest Lithuanian mantracore from Prague a.k.a. Yoga has never been so loud! This band, claiming Lithuanian origins, appeared in Prague, Czech Republic in 2007, allegedly after moving in from the remote forests at the southern Lithuanian border with Belarus. Alaverdi themselves say that the band started in an abandoned steel mill near Vilnius out of the pure desire to spread positive vibrations into the world. However, brothers Edgaras (gtr) and Vytautas Vasilias (drs) and bass player Marius Miškinis spread the goodwill in quite a rough package. There is a message to every Alaverdi song, so the typically bilingual Lithuanian/English tracks include: Vegetaros Superžmogus (about a vegetarian superman), environmental warning Recycle or Die!, death-metal infused appeal for peaceful coexistence Be Nice, Solaras Panelas (about living in a forest powered by nothing but love and solar energy), a love song between a man and his bicycle Du Bist Meine Freundin, tolerance manifesto (It´s OK That) You´re Gay, and the life-changing two minute opus Yoga Is Life (And Life Is Yoga). The audience is also able to hear a turbocharged Georgian traditional, a simulation of whale singing, Aboriginal rain magic and chant along the yoga syllable "AUM". Most of these messages are served at a breakneck speed somewhere between punk and hardcore. This is also where the name for the specific genre of mantracore came from - i.e. the conjunction of short mantra-like lyrics and extraforte music. The name Alaverdi itself is inspired by a remote north-Armenian industrial center of the same name. "The Alaverdi town is an industrial nightmare; it´s a place where you really don´t want to be born in your next life. We adopted the name for our band as a kind of karmic warning that all of us should keep in mind - do good in this life, or you´re gonna be born in Alaverdi next time", says frontman Edgaras. After recording their debut CD Recycle or Die! in 2008 (with an environment-friendly cardboard booklet), the band followed up with second album Make the Poor Rich in 2010 (this time, the booklet is made of wood), launched in Prague by a concert including a Lithuanian vegetarian cooking show. Traveling in their vintage Mercedes van or otherwise, the band is permanently looking for concert opportunities where turbocharged positive vibrations are needed.
