简介

"It's late, you're driving, the car radio is broadcasting ghosts. It's a long, long way to Nashville but still you're tuned to 650 AM, Home of the Grand Ole Opry. From your dark stretch of the lost highway you pull in equal parts static, signals from outer space and the best country music ever recorded. You could drive forever." Six-Fifty is ShoeFly's first recording. Like the early Opry, the music is rooted in tradition: old time, bluegrass and honky-tonk. With two generations of seasoned performers, ShoeFly fills this music with high energy youth and experience. The senior members of the ensemble had their starts in the 1970s and have been active in the national music scene ever since. Rick Good ( banjo, guitar, vocals) was a founding member of the Hotmud Family, a co-director of Rhythm in Shoes and a 2010, Ohio Heritage Fellow. Sharon Leahy (guitar, bass, snare, feet, vocals) toured with the Green Grass Cloggers, worked as a dancer in New York City, co-directed Rhythm in Shoes for twenty-three years and won numerous fellowships and awards for her creative work. Paul Kovac (banjo, guitar, mandolin, vocals) has played with Clear Fork, Hillbilly IDOL and the Critton Hollow String Band, and accompanied such greats as Bill Monroe, Chet Atkins, Hank Thompson and Hazel Dickens. Leading the second generation of ShoeFly is Ben Cooper (fiddle, bass, vocals), oldest son of Sharon, who started touring with Rhythm in Shoes in the fall of 1997, and also plays with his old time bands, the Ohio Corndaddys and The Buvas. Rounding out ShoeFly is Emma Young (bass, vocals), daughter to Sharon and Rick, once a featured dancer with Rhythm in Shoes, now a sought after session singer in Southwest Louisiana.
