"How the Dead Live" is Jordan's 5th album and is inspired by the story of one of New Zealands first pioneers, Susannah Hawes. The CD follows Susannahs dialogue with "History", who is a bloodthirsty female character bent on dramatic tales and battlescenes rather than the "ordinary" life Susannah leads. REVIEWS: "A fascinating and intense listen. Reyne's voice, as ever, is a gift and.. she chooses to use it by applying the tools of a story writer and an illustrator. I really liked this album... here is something worth celebrating, a song writer who didn't come down in the last shower of record company advances and marketing hype" The Dominion Post (Wellington, New Zealand) "A jewel of industrial folk...(Reyne's) fascinatingly powerful voice...and reliance on substance over gloss make "How the Dead Live“ an impressive album. Disturbingly beautiful. A must have." Unser Luebeck (Germany) “a work that delves deeply into the psyche of the land and our European forebears. A soundtrack to the cinema of unease" New Zealand Musician Jordan Reyne is an experimental musician from New Zealand, who operates across the electronic, folk, industrial musical genres. She combines vocal melody with narrative and urban "found sound" to do what she describes as "recreating the sonic context of characters". Jordan has been nominated three times for a New Zealand Music Award and released five CDs with the assistance of Creative New Zealand, the New Zealand arts council. She performed with a live band between 1999 and 2005 which she called "Dr Kevorkian & the Suicide Machine". Two of her CDs were also recorded under this moniker, which gained her attention and a following internationally in the darkwave/ gothic music scene.
