简介
Del Castillo, the much-lauded Austin-based band will release a new self-titled album April 7th. Del Castillo is the fourth release from the Latin fusion rock sextet known for their high energy performances and boundary breaking blend of hard rock, classical flamenco, blues and “Mex-Americana” roots While the band has received critical praise, played before enthusiastic audiences and been courted by Hollywood, the new album that bears their name marks a new era for Del Castillo, the members of which have described it as their most collaborative effort to date. “It was a great experience for us to get away and write together instead of just some of us composing songs on our own and then bringing them to the band” said Mark del Castillo. “The way we came together for this album really makes it stand out among all of our records.” Most of the songs for Del Castillo were written during an intensive week-long writing session in Nashville, except "Home" which was written for Mark del Castillo’s wife of 8 years and "Corazon Loco" which took shape in Santa Fe while the band was shooting back-to-back music videos in February of 2006. Del Castillo was founded by guitarist brothers Rick and Mark del Castillo and is fronted by charismatic vocalist Alex Ruiz, backed by a rock-hard rhythm section of Albert Besteiro (bass), and Mike Zeoli (drums) and Carmelo Torres (percussion). Del Castillo has shared stages throughout the country with Willie Nelson, Ozomatli, Los Lobos, Los Lonely Boys, Gypsy Kings, deSol, Kinky, and other name artists. The band has been the recipient of ten Austin Music Awards, in a variety of categories that reflect their intensely musical ecumenicism. These include “Band of the Year,” “Best World Music Band,” “Best Traditional Latin Band” to “Best Latin Contemporary Band.” Thanks to their close working relationship with filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, their music has been heard in such feature films as “Kill Bill, Vol. 2,” “Once Upon A Time In Mexico” and “Spy Kids 3D: Game Over.” Del Castillo’s music is part of the upcoming feature release “The Cry,” based on the Southwest legend of La Llorona. Among other high profile events, they’ve played three of Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnics, Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival, and they’ve been featured on numerous national and local TV programs including The George Lopez Show, LATV, American Latino TV and Porque Amamos La Música. In 2008 Gibson Guitars selected Del Castillo to be one of the bands to launch their cutting-edge new Dark Fire Guitar, headlining one of a global series of celeb-studded events. Previously, Del Castillo has released three audio albums, Brothers of the Castle, Vida and Brotherhood and the DVD Del Castillo Live, shot and edited by Robert Rodriquez.
