Well this is the first milestone, we’ve reached out 10th release! So a big thank you to all the artists & Djs that have shown us love over the past year & a half. We’ve released some great music that has hit top 10 charts galore & also rocked many a dance floor. In that time we’ve relocated the label from it’s birth place in UK to now being based in Sydney, Australia. We’ve also picked up a nomination at this year International Break Beat Awards (Breakspoll) in the ‘Best New Label 2009’ category. Here’s to the next 10!!! Making his Upstart debut is Perth (Australia) based Philly Blunt. When he sent us this massive bass led number we jumped at the chance to release it. ‘Feel’ is built around a huge bass line that will get the bass bins wobbling & send a judder through your nether regions! It’s a heavy hitting track that is on the fringes of break beat but not really ‘house’ either. We love genre-straddling tracks & this one ticks all the boxes. Large bass. Check. Slammin’ beats. Check. Catchy Old skool vocal. Check. Play it loud & watch the ceiling cave in! As always label boss D-Funk don’s his remix hat & turns in a rolling tech-funk number that takes the original bass line, feeds it through a mangle wurzel, picks it up & spreads it about like a cheap hookers legs. It’s got a huge breakdown & build up which is sure to messy with people’s heads. In a good way that is… Alien Nation is next up & this guy is becoming somewhat of an Upstart fave & went we first heard his mix we were once again blown away with what he’s done. In fact his ultra cool break beat interpretation is so good it’s the only straight up ‘breaks’ mix in the package. We just couldn’t top it!
