This album may be one of the Best, most Fun Christmas compilation albums you'll ever hear! New Mexico Musician/Vocalist/Producer Busy McCarroll has always loved Christmas music and wanted to make a Christmas compilation album featuring her favorite New Mexico musicians. So, in the fall of 1986, Busy and her husband, award winning engineer/studio designer/drummer, Baird Banner, decorated their recording studio,'Kludgit Sound' with mistles toe and Xmas lights and created a festive holiday vibe to record by. Busy invited some of the best of New Mexico's musicians to be on the album and 'A New Mexico Christmas' was born. A few of the bands,The Blenderz and The Muttz, wrote Christmas songs especially for this album. The album was initially recorded 'Old School' on a Sound Workshop analog board and Otari 24 track tape machine then mixed onto Analog 1/4 tape. Originally manufactured as a 'cassett'. A New Mexico Christmas was an instant Southwest hit, with a sold out release party held at the now closed nationally known nightclub, called Club West. Because this was a privately funded project and there was no internet or CDBaby..all the leg work was 'in-house' and took way too much time to distribute and manage sales. After a few Christmas's, the project was tucked away in the studio archives and Busy & Baird continued their work on other recordings and touring Busy's music. But, year after year Kludgit Sound received calls from people asking where they can buy A New Mexico Christmas. So finally, last year, the original art work was updated and the recordings were transferred onto a CD. A New Mexico Christmas music stands the test of time as all good Christmas music should. The songs are filled with Christmas merriment mixing classical, hip, funk and Rock out Christmas songs. The music congures up lots of Christmas memories that everyone can relate to. Play this album at your holiday party. Your guests will love you for it. Have fun listening to A New Mexico Christmas year after year after year!!!! And now here's a little history about Kludgit Sound Recording Studio: It was one of, if not the first, state of the art recording studios built in New Mexico. In 1976 Banner bought, designed and built Kludgit Sound inside a historic 1800's cut stone building that used to be a stable, then an Opera House (when there were over 40 saloons on the Main Street), after that the building became New Mexico's first Masonic Temple #19 while the Scottish Rite Temple was being built in Santa Fe. The studio is one of the most beautiful and unique buildings in Santa Fe county. It's one of the only two buildings in the village on Main Street to survive a raging fire that took place in the early 1900's. The walls of the control room contain rock beautiful locally gathered stone created by artist Nick Morrow and TV producer, Chuck Banner, who happens to be Baird's younger brother. On the ceiling of the main studio recording room are traditional NM vigas. The bathroom is housed inside an adjacent cut stone building. You can hear the sounds of this one-of-kind studio in the mix of each project recorded here. A New Mexico Christmas is just one of the many projects created at the studio located in 'won't-be'a-ghost-town' of Cerrillos, New Mexico.
