简介
Fun-Da-Mental DJ/Vocalist D.WattsRiot, presents KingLMan. The name, cloaked in juvenile humour to ease the pain of around-the-clock slaps in the face and kicks on the shins of man. Another voice of discontent amongst the majority of minions. Exploration of self and community using the tools at hand, words and sounds. Vultures Bazaar´ features the soulful Earl 16 (Studio One) taking aim at the “current(cy) situation“, the globalitarian power-play of bone-crushing economics dressed in democratic fervour. Delivering a voice of reason on a cut-up culture rhythm; built with shards of sounds from reality and make-believe, since in these times, the two are indistinguishable from one another. High frequency percussive shrapnel, digital static messages to and from the frontline barricades. ‘Shopping For a Timer’ sees a collaboration with two Tenerife-based musicians: on vocals, guitar and ukelele, Diego Hdez and marimba player César Martín applying deft touches on the the keys. A combination producing a swamp of deep boom, floating harps, emotive keys, distant but triumphant horns, while lryically addressing the light-years of distance in thought between the ruler and the ruled. Closing the EP is another take on ‘Vultures’ Bazaar’. The base of this mix was a result of a discusion between D.WattsRiot and community actionists Indigineous Resistance about the relevance of dub as a messenger. With that frame of mind a visit to the Santa Cruz studio of producer Postman ensued, dropping the tempo from 107 to 85bpm, lacing the original with mountains of reverb and mangled fragments, while percussion seeps its way through entwined roots. When in the final stages of preparing this release, the airwaves were filled with the USA-financed and militarily supported, barbaric onslaught that was taking place in Gaza courtesy of Israel. It could not be left alone, hence back to the lab for last-minute additional topping, led by an Israeli spokesman’s constant used the phrase “Let me be clear¨, when justifiying his countries flagrant abuse of power and position and disregard for human life. The resistance is fertile, not only in Gaza, West Bank and Palestine, however they are showing the world what sacrifice really means. 'Vultures Bazaar – Let Me Be Clear in the Abyss of War is a salute to them.
