Nashville, TN Pop Rock. One common dream: Express themselves through music, and connect with the people that hear them. Who We Are was established in April of 2012. Unknown to each member, a series of unforeseen events would lead to the band you see, and the songs you hear today. A bond would be created rivaling any each of them has had before, and a desire was born. Friends came together in that Spring, and began writing and playing music together, each bringing with them a wide variety of influences and ideas that would shape them into who, and what they are today. Garrett gives Who We Are a voice with which to be identified. Early on, he found inspiration in bands such as All Time Low, We The Kings, Boys Like Girls, Set it Off, and others. In the early stages of his musical ventures, Garrett learned to play the guitar and was instantly filled with the desire to form something bigger than himself. He can be found more often than not writing in a notebook, bouncing new ideas off of his friends and family, and has a strong interest in testing new things, and becoming a more diverse musician. The “front man” of the band is anything but, as he would prefer that every one of his best friends be looked at as an equal contributor towards the final product that is Who We Are’s music, and his tireless drive towards the goals in front of him is truly admirable. Travis, much like everyone else in the band, is self-taught with his instrument. He is exceptionally talented, incredibly driven, and unwavering in his dedication to music. Although peaceful and even-keeled in everyday life, Travis gives Who We Are an explosive quality that takes the band to new heights. Influenced strongly by jazz, rock, funk, blues, country, and more, Travis has a true passion for all forms of music, and transfers this passion into Who We Are. With a remarkable ability to know exactly what feel a song-in-writing has, Travis allows the other four pieces of the group to write freely without worry of conflicting parts down the line. As a band, Garrett and Travis have notable chemistry. Whether it be writing a song at practice, playing cover songs for fun, or playing in front of a crowd of 5, or 500, there is a cohesiveness that is visible between them that is something special to be sure. The music created by the band is something they both love, and hold as dear to their hearts as anything in the world. From playing in backyards and basements, to spots with You Me At Six, Anarbor, and All-Star Weekend, the band shows as much love for what they create as any other band in the world. Who We Are has grown, and hopes to continue to grow. Whether it be growing individually, collectively, musically, or in audience size, the two young musicians that compose WWA have no intentions on stopping any time soon. Do what you love, and don’t ever give up.
