Having played with many DJ's over the years and having admired their mixing skills with sounds and colour, making new songs, I decided I should play with my own music and see what would happen if I added some samples. Being a jazz musician, a saxophonist in Mozambique and South Africa, the musical and technological evolution has been amazing. MP Reloaded is a selection of 9 songs from both my previous albums The Moreira Project Vol 1: The Journey and The Moreira Project Vol 2: Citizen of the World. I had the privilege of working with a young producer from Zimbabwe, Emerson Tanaka Mnangagwa who helped me create some amazing beats for the songs. We played with the original files and recreated new melodies and grooves that work with the context of the album. I always wanted to see what would happen if I took my contemporary jazz music and added a house beat. MP RELOADED is the result of the blending of familiar rhythms, melodies, harmonies and grooves and letting my creative juices have a huge amount of fun.
