I didn't know what to expect from Valerie. But surprise - I liked her stuff! I think the CD is a bit short (only five songs), but it's a good demonstration of Valerie's music and her talented voice. Her music is poppy, kind of folky. For some reason, she reminds me at times of Cindi Lauper and The Cranberries. Her lyrics speak of the usual normal stuff - day to day life and love. Her duet with Mark Meisel on Promised Land is tender, heartfelt, a little sappy and everything you could ask for in a ballad. So kick off the shoes, run along the beach, soak up the rays and pop in some Valerie some steamy afternoon and just have some fun. Since May of 1999, she has recorded and released a self titled debut CD, been invited to perform at music industry showcases, and have enjoyed airplay on commercial and college radio stations all over the U.S. Her song 'Change Things' was chosen to be included on a compilation CD benefiting the American Red Cross to aid tornado victims in Oklahoma City. She has also held top forty positions on many internet music sites including being ranked in the 'Top 10 CDs' at MP3.com, with CDs sold all over the world.
