Tony B. Dickerson When the name Tony B. Dickerson is spoken, many automatically associate him with music. As a pianist, composer, and phenomenal songwriter, Dickerson is one of Gospel’s premiere musicians. Influenced by the late great, “Maestro,” Thomas Whitfield, Tony B. Dickerson knows how to fuse the eclectic sounds of jazz, soul, and traditional compositions with contemporary techniques to form a very distinct style of music ministry. Tony began playing the piano as a child prodigy at age six (6). By age 12, he was already teaching vocal parts and playing the piano for local church and school choruses. His grandmother recognized the gift of music in him and inspired him to persevere and hone his musical skills. Since then, he has not stopped his desire to create quality music. Tony served as worship leader and assistant to the Chaplain in the U.S. Navy for three (3) years. In 1992, his musical abilities caught the attention of the late Minister O’landa Draper, a national gospel recording artist with whom Tony played for and accompanied on many travels for several years. Enhancing his craft afforded him the opportunity to accompany many renowned singers, recording artists, and speakers at various venues throughout the United States. Dickerson’s latest achievement was performing at the NAACP’s (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) 100th Freedom Fund Gala. As a writer, Tony has written songs for several artists locally and nationally and is striving to reach masses with resounding melodies. Tony has also founded several ministries such as True Foundation and his latest, The Essential Band/Ministry are just to name a few. Tony B. Dickerson has what it takes to present distinguished music. His background in music appreciation, choir decorum, and vocal techniques has allowed him to contribute music performances and compositions to several religious, educational, social and political organizations and events. Dickerson’s tenure in music has led him to different countries and has placed him in the presence of other stellar musicians. When not on the road touring, you can find Tony serving in the church, the community, and in school as a musician, teacher, and/or conductor. Tony’s mission is to positively influence hearts and souls with his musical expressions of healing, acceptance, unity, and restoration.
