简介
Chris Cutler's description from the ReR Megacorp web site: "JENKINS, ALAN (ed): Well, That About Wraps It Up For The Sea This superb and frankly unbelievable (ESM ™)* compilation culled from an infinity of parallel universes features multiple (and extreme) interpretations of The Beatles’ She Loves You - ‘universally acknowledged the best pop song’ - kicking off with our own Kettering Vampires (of The Kettering Vampires play Nico & the Velvet Underground fame), after which all cosmic hell breaks loose – in a suitably sedate, anachronistic, polystylistic, willful and mind-blistering way. Apart from being a joy to listen to (there’s a message there) and highly intelligent, this record, by its very form, makes more illuminating commentaries on the nature of style, music, recording aesthetics, fashion, genius and culture than a library full of musicological analyses. It’s lived philosophy. And it’s also funny. If you think you can sort of imagine what this CD is like, trust me, it’s better. My record of the year so far. * Experimental Surf Music, a concept fully explained in Jenkins’ lapidary liner notes." This is a link to the kickstarter page that originally launched tis CD. There is a helpful, explanatory video to watch: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1585711746/well-that-about-wraps-it-up-for-the-sea "Well, That About Wraps It Up For The Sea" is a compilation CD of the world's finest Experimental Surf Bands. You can hear some of them in the video. It will be packaged in a little cardboard gate-fold sleeve. It will look nice. There is a little girl and a bear on the front. The 16 bands on the CD are: The Kettering Vampires, Marie Harel and The Cheese, Brane World, The Conrad Gessners, The Tessellations, The Pterodactyls, Ronnie and The Cardboard, The Winding Numbers, The End of Recorded Time, Non-Human Footwear, Aaaaaaaaxb, The Bosonics, Culpho Dog Gymkhana, The French, The Melamine Division Plates and Five Nightmare Fishing Scenarios. This CD is the fourth in a series that also includes "Beyond the Sea", "Further Beyond the Sea" and "Considerably Further Beyond the Sea". The original idea was to encourage surf instrumental bands to explore new territory and, in fact, the series is becoming progressively stranger. Just wait till you hear this new one.
