简介

Released in September of 2009, this is the 3rd and final installment of Plex Long's "My Purpose" series. At this stage in his life, Plex has achieved a great deal of success and financial gains by promoting other rappers for major and indie record companies. In the midst of Plex's success on the business side, the music that he was born to create suffered. The feelings that arose from his lack of creativity turned into a burning passion that inspired him to get back on the mic and record this album at all costs. After quitting his job at Warner Bros. Records and moving back to the East Coast, Plex connected with James "Jesse French" Spittler of Dirty Pocket Studios and began to record his frustrations that had built up over the previous year. Accompanied by the production talents of Spittler, Plex also linked up with his old musical buddies R.E.U.B. of The Clinic, Charlie P of Abstract Logic Recordings, and the Beggan Bros of Sleepy Hollows Studios to cultivate a new sound that has never been heard from Plex or anyone else. On tracks like "Move On" (produced by the Beggan Bros) Plex describes his battles with fear, alcoholism, relationships, and his career. He vividly takes you through those battles while some of the most beautiful strings you will ever hear give the song a subtle reflective background setting. On "Unkindly" (produced by R.E.U.B.) Plex expresses many of his regrets and apologizes to the loved one's he has hurt over the years, including himself. The Intro "Scatter Like Roaches" and the Outro "Chester Copperpot" (both produced by Charlie P) are the perfect opening and closing to the album. "Scatter Like Roaches" brings the listener back out of the darkness, where Plex's creative energy has been laying dormant for over a year, and into the light where the industry fakeness and shame can't hide. While "Chester Copperpot" transitions you out of Plex's passions and into his final summary of his purpose. "Chester Copperpot" concludes the "My Purpose" series with gentle vocals from Kaotick and a passionate monologue from Hollie "Game" Peek III. My Purpose Vol. 1 "Smiles & Cries" was all about raw emotions, My Purpose Vol. 2 "Almost Famous" was all about growth, My Purpose Vol. 3 "Passions Of The Mic" is all about truth. This album is the first time that Plex addresses his alter ego, Wilt Wallace, the record promoter that is well connected in the industry and known for breaking records on the radio and in the clubs. This public introduction to Plex and Wilt as one person represents the ultimate truth in his life. Turn up your speakers and observe as the truth sets Plex free.
