This album beautifully features the interpretations of American Songbook ballad favorites as well as two original compositions by the leaders of the session by New York based saxophonist Lukas Gabric and pianist Martin Terens. The 2013 Thelonious Monk Competiton semi-finalst and member of the Juilliard Artist Diploma Ensemble, Lukas Gabric, delivers convincing and heart felt interpretation of the melodies and is superbly supported and inspired by the soloing and imaginatively facile playing of his colleague Martin Terens who has garnered international success by winning the 1st Prize at the International Jazz Haus Solo Piano Competition Freiburg in 2009 and who was also a recipient of a grant by the German-American Fulbright Commission and of the ASCAP Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Award 2014. The two leaders are supported more than adequately by the two New York based musicians Peter Traunmüller and Eddy Khaimovich. This dynamic drum and bass coupling is in high demand on the New York jazz scene and in their respective countries of origin.
