简介

Short bio: Sea Caves formed in the springtime of 2004 in Portland, OR when Shiloh Halsey met Cameron Jones (of Pinback, Physics, and Thingy). After the release of their first album, Slow Wave, in 2011, Shiloh and Cameron began a series of travels north to the volcanic lands of Mount St. Helens to write music and work on acoustic versions of their songs. Inspired by the cataclysmic destruction and spectacular regrowth of this area, and how it reflected their own stories of rebuilding, they began to put together a set of songs that would eventually come together to form their most recent release, Bright Forest. This 12-song album is filled with stories of longing and reflection with hints of the ever-changing backdrop of the Cascade forest. Bright Forest weaves layered compositions with airy vocals, intricate guitar and keyboard lines, melodic bass, and dueling flutes. 2015 marked the beginning of a new stage for Sea Caves as Brian Nelson and Seiji Nair joined the band. The result is experimental and serene, pitched somewhere between early Midlake and Pinback. Effects pedals coexist with woodwinds and textured harmonies better than you might expect." -Willamette Week "A fresh take on an already established genre....a unique, moody, and charismatic record that stands out in a city full of artists hoping to do the same." -Eleven Magazine "Sea Caves isn't latching on to a passing fad; they're reshaping the noise around them into a unique, exciting aesthetic." -Nooga (on Spanning the River) "It’s one part Iron & Wine and one part Fleet Foxes with a dashing of Sufjan Stevens all rolled into one stunning and alluring track." -The Revue "Unconventionally crafted but understatedly melodic and easy to like." -Portland Mercury "A group with depth and range" -Willamette Week “Intricate arrangements powered by vivacious songwriting” -Heave Media Links to media coverage: Vortex: http://www.vrtxmag.com/articles/sea-caves-bright-forest-album-review/ Willamette Week: http://www.wweek.com/2016/02/09/sea-caves-bright-forest-self-released/ The Revue: http://therevue.ca/2015/12/08/the-matinee-december-8/ Portland Mercury: http://www.portlandmercury.com/portland/up-and-coming/Content?oid=17573469 ElevenPDX: http://issuu.com/elevenpdx/docs/elevenpdx5.9issuu/1?e=10423413/33270282 Huffington Post: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/the-return-of-tusk-fleetwood-macs-exotic-classic_us_56733577e4b08ea2326b3e24?9wwmi=
