Producer, Randy Mitchell and I have known each other since 2000. I heard about his gifts ten years before that from mutual friends when I lived in Seattle. His album credits appear on some of my favorite music. He has a reputation for being a humble, good man with considerable skills and phenomenal ears. I can vouch for that. There's something of Divine providence that brought Randy and I together for this collaboration. Through this process we celebrated life, Spirit, eternal hope and communion with God. Randy's thoughtful vision, fastidious care of every track and sound selection, combined with a mindset that 'good is an enemy of the best' * produced music that stands up, and sometimes bows down deep. My daughter, Kirsten has scores of hidden treasures buried inside dusty journals, on Pro Tools hard drives and unmarked CDs, lying on the floor of her car, and God knows where else. Those life-giving treasures of melody and lyric have been floating in my brain for years. In 1976, this brilliant spirit arrived on planet Earth when I gave birth to Kirsten. Generously, she then let me give birth to several of her songs via this project; and like new life, they speak of water, blood, and Spirit. The circle, the cycle, the rhythm delightful. Kirsten mined my humble ideas for the "Great Love" title cut, fashioning a gem. She also arranged and recorded the beautiful background vocals from her studio in Tacoma. In 1978, my joy was exponentially increased when beloved daughter, Heather was born, and thus the world grew richer. She has a miraculous ability to regularly make me laugh and cry simultaneously. What of that? These moments come when I least expect them, and often around something intensely creatively produced, such as her spectacular paintings. These touch a deep and resonant place that bring me to tears, until her comedic timing and self-deprecating humor kick in, interrupting my moment. And just when I'm starting to hear violins, laughter ensues once again. Her brilliant blog on life in Australia is another case in point. Heather co-wrote and sings the lead vocal on my favorite cut, "I Call With All My Heart." Her stellar voice on this prayerful anthem stirs hope and builds my faith.
