简介
After years of touring with other projects and talking about collaborating, Songwriter Kris Orlowski and Composer Andrew Joslyn (Macklemore/Handful of Luvin) met to add string arrangements to Kris’s songs for one epic, storied show. Post epic show, they were showered with gratitude and requests for the recordings. After some discernment, Kris Orlowski and the Passenger Quartet chose five songs to record live at the Fremont Abbey. The recordings echo a sense of community offering a lens into Seattle’s diversity both in songwriting, instrumentation, and artists. Kris Orlowski brings together a varied choral line-up including Americana folk artist Tony Kevin, Jr., Pop Rocker Matt Gervais (Curtains for You), and blue eyed soul singer Allen Stone among many other talents you may not otherwise find in the same room together. Core musicians on the album include Tim Rummerfield on drums, jazz bassist Scott Schrock, and Andrew Joslyn’s Passenger quartet; Alina To (violinist, Grand Hallway), Seth May-Patterson (violist, Transiberian Orchestra), and Danah Albaum (celloist, Shenandoah Davis). In the gorgeous, art-focused, Fremont Abbey, this diverse collection musicians enjoy a unique, genuine resonance. What makes the sound more unique is that it’s a marriage of a classic tradition of music (classical/baroque/romantic string quartet arranging) with new-folk/rock. The two coincide with each other beautifully on this EP, creating a nice mesh of orchestral new-folk songs. The sound heightens the sense of love, being lost, change and moving on that Kris sings about in these emotional songs. So take a moment. Breathe in the silence and then really listen to these songs. Then let the music be your guide, “All the change, you write the chapter, it’s your move.” CREDITS : Recorded Live at the Fremont Abbey with some overdubs at Mezzanine Studios Produced by Jonas Gushurst & Kris Orlowski Engineered by Jonas Gushurst and Josh Sherman Mastering by Kory Kruckenberg Songs by Kris Orlowski String arrangements by Andrew Joslyn Musicians included Scott Schrock (bass), Tim Rummerfield (guitar), Kris Orlowski (vocals, guitar) Quartet included Danah Olivetree (cello), Seth May Patterson (Viola), Alina To (Violin), Andrew Joslyn (Violin) Choir included Zach Fluery, Matt Gervais, Noah Gunderson, Lerin Herzer, Tony Kevin Jr, Sophia Miller, Curtis Romjue, Allen Stone Cinematography by Brad Curran Cover artwork and cover photography by Moorea Seal
