简介
Hatred on the Rise, originally released in May of 2009, was the 9th studio album for 80’s Socal Hardcore Punk band, RF7. For this release the band was able to coax long retired bassist Robert Armstrong back into the studio for one more encore. Robert had played on RF7’s first 4 or 5 releases including their debut album, 1981’s “Weight of thee World” and 1994’s Classic “Traditional Values.” This move prompted two other members of the early 80’s line up Steve Drojenski (rhythm guitar) and Walter Phelan (drums) to join founding members and primary song writing team Felix Alanis (vocals) and Nick Lamagna (guitars) in the studio. This left Nick and Felix with a little dilemma as they had been preparing to record Hatred on the Rise with the current (at that time line up). The idea then came to split the record half the songs with the 80’s line up and half with the “new guys,” in a head to head battle to see who kicked a** harder. The winner is you! As the result is a hard pounding highly invigorated record with the classic match up of youth vs. experience. For your info, the odd numbered tracks are performed by the 80’s line up and the even numbered tracks served up by the new band, featuring Tony Calderone (guitars), Javier Chavez (bass) and Big Mike Red (drums), joining Nick and Felix. The new line up paid homage to the veterans by re-recording a blistering version of the classic 1983 RF7 song, “Old Enough to Die.” Each band also went head to head with their interpretations of the albums title track. Cool stuff. So just sit back, or better yet stand up and be prepared to have your clock cleaned. Hatred on the Rise, was also the first collaboration between RF7 and legendary producer Earle Mankey (google him). Earle has gone on to record and produce RF7’s next two studio projects, 2014’s “RF7 101” and the currently in production “Day at the Crisis.”
