LIGHT BRIGHT BIOGRAPHY: I was born in San Francisco California on September 9, 1988. In which I was given the name Kevin Winans. I have always had a strong passion for music since I was a child. At the age of 13 when I was in the car driving to my grandmother’s house along with my 2 sisters, my mom, and my brother. We were driving, and my older sister was listening to V 95.7 before it became Wild 94.9. A song was playing on the radio, and I was sitting in the back seat free styling my own lyrics to the song. My older sister told me that those weren’t even the words to the song. I told her I was free styling my own words. She had responded to me by saying “U can’t sing or rap”. I responded to her by saying just watch and see. When I get older I’m going be on the radio, she laughed, and ever since then I wanted to be a musician. Years passed by, and when I was in high school I met another person, who also shared my passion for music. The connection between us was instant. Soon after discovering how strong our passion and commitment for music was we started working on making music together. Unfortunately that musical relationship was short lived. But that didn’t stop my dreams of becoming an artist in the music field. Over the years I have recorded several songs that have been placed on mixed tapes and online, as well as a few videos on YouTube. My love for music is so strong that I have turned it into my career. I found a studio that was near the beach on 42nd and Judah in San Francisco at the sunset youth center. There I recorded several songs and was working on my first mix tape that I originally had named “Paper Work Proves Everything”. But on March 21, 2011, I had a tragic event happen in my life. I was shot in the head, and three times in the back. I was taken to Vallejo Hospital. As I laid in a coma the doctors at Vallejo hospital decided it would be best to transfer me Walnut Creek Trauma Center, where I had to undergo brain surgery. After being an inpatient for several months, I was finally released home. Where I had to undergo intense rehabilitation to learn how to walk again. When I got out of the hospital and was going through the intensive rehabilitation, I started to take music more seriously than before the incident. I felt I was alive for a reason, so I needed to give it my all. So I bought my own studio equipment and started recording my new mix tape as a solo artist. The new mix tape Vol .1 “Still Breathing”. Soon after I started on my album, and continued to make new songs everyday it took a total of three days to complete writing and recording my album on my computer. The title of the first album I did was called “Special Delivery”. I feel my best qualities and strengths are my hardworking mentality, my dedication, a strong lyricist and a good musician. In life I feel I had a lot of weaknesses which are my friends, my health, and I am extremely hard on myself. The advantages that I feel I have that will help my career out in this industry would be my image, and my life story. There’s also a lot of clubs, open mics. Also I come from a city where we have one of the top ten video production companies around. I feel my competition in the industry includes artists that are known such as Lil Wayne, Lil Boosie, Young Jeezy, Eminem, Tupac, Notorious B.I.G, Jay Z, Wiz Khalifa and Kanye West. They are just a few of the artists that inspired me and are also Artists I inspire to be on the same level as. The experience I have in the industry is 10 years of recording and writing. I feel I have much more to learn about the industry but eager to learn as my career advances The genres I consider my music to be in would be a variety such as Hip-Hop, R&B, and Pop. I have love for all types of music, and respect for all artists. Who have passion, goals and drive for life. I chose the name Light bright because it was a nickname given to me by an O.G. when I first stepped my foot in the music game. and the name has stuck with me ever since then. It stands for the light skinned kid in the hood. As the years passed I’ve worked with several beat makers and a variety of artists. Music is my first love, and it is something that I will always pursue. I feel my music is the story of my life, a way to express myself, and also be able to tell my story in my own words. My hopes and dreams for the future are to be a well-rounded Artist and work with main stream names. Produce multi-platinum cd’s that the world will enjoy and love. I want to target all ages while giving my audience something to remember for years to come that can be appreciated and respected. My main targets are going to be, magazines, radio stations, and convention centers. While going on tours to market and promote my music, and many of the products from the companies who are sponsoring /endorsing me for years to come, And for my music to be played in the West Field shopping center and distributed inside department stores music stores, and online stores
