Following their first appearance on Afroterraneo’s 2018 debut sampler ‘Genesis Vol. 1’, Swiss duo Djudo return to the label with new 4 track EP ‘Lilefo’. Swiftly making a name for themselves in the Afro House scene, Gilberto Lima and Dominique Blanc hail from Basel, Switzerland. Title track ‘Lilefo’ (‘Payments’ in the Zulu language) conjures up a self-assured, insistent groove, with intricate percussion touches and a power-ful, hypnotic vocal chant. Translating to English as ‘Power’, second track ‘Amandla’ takes on a more restrained, dreamlike shape, with fragments of soulful vocals, clas-sic Deep House chord stabs and a highly addictive melody line. Third on the EP is ‘Keep Living’, a harder-edged percussive electronic cut, delivering tonnes of drama with synth chords which build intensity, from a whisper to a scream. Closing out ‘Lifelo’ is ‘Ninguem’, a smooth, classic, Deep House cut with jazz-tinged keys and a timeless groove.
