简介
Who Shot Mamba? is a feature-length, action-hero/comedy about how the death of Mamba, a talking snake, fulfills "ancient" prophecy to unleash the powers of a magic basketball, the Orange Roundie. The story begins some years ago with our hero, the lovable dimwit, Merri Sherman, on a Ranger Corps mission to recover said ancient prophecy. He is led by amiable Sherpas to the Tent of Orange Death, where he recovers the prophecy from the Ominous Man. Jump forward to the present day where Sherman (retired from the Corps) has been framed for the death of his friend Mamba. With the help of his former love, Detective Rebecca Thunderbrestinyorkinshire, he evades arrest by the corrupt and obsessive Detective Riggs. He seeks inside-information from a local gang leader, Inflatable Ben, who challenges Sherman to a game of cards. Ben’s prize for his sure-fire win is an evening at his place with Becky. Shadowed secretively by Detective Riggs, Sherman trails them to Ben’s house. Sherman goes through Ben’s secret files as Ben and Becky hug and kiss to the strains of his favorite song “Girl, You So Pretty (And Your Face Is Nice).” Ben is soon alerted to Merri’s activities and the two of them “go philly” on each other and brawl in Ben’s backyard and the surrounding neighborhood. Ultimately, Ben divulges some key information, which leads Sherman to rejoin the Ranger Corps and once again pursue the ancient prophecy. He and Becky—whose love is reignited—are soon apprehended by the League of Roundie Henchmen, a secretive organization devoted to the fulfillment of the ancient prophecy, which will reawaken the power of the Orange Roundie. Merri and Becky manage to escape, but only briefly. But before being captured again, they rewrite the prophecy in their favor. In the presence of his own leader, the Ominous Man, the League’s leader challenges Sherman to a definitive game of one-on-one to 25 points. Sherman tries his hardest, and is but a point from defeat before remembering the sage advice of his father, Kelli—his unstoppable hook shot. Victory is at hand…but for whom, ultimately?
