简介
Kiosk's sixth album, "Parallel Establishments" or "Tashkilate Movazi," demonstrates the band's versatility, with song influences ranging from gypsy jazz to blues to rock. The songs are complemented by meaningful lyrics which provide a stinging sociopolitical satire of Iran today. The album also features a cover of "Broken Bicycles" by Tom Waits, and a unique interpretation of the Romani classic "Opa Cupa." Known as "the pioneers of Iranian rock" (The Berlin Daily Newspaper), Kiosk was formed in a Tehran basement in 2003, and prevented by the Islamic regime from performing in public or publishing recordings due to their "inappropriate" lyrics. The band members re-grouped outside Iran in 2005, and have since released five highly praised albums in between tours of North America, Europe, and Australia. Kiosk's recent live album, "Triple Distilled" was named one of the ten best albums of the year by BBC World's World of Music.
