简介
Growing up in Antioch, California just east of San Francisco, David Martin spent much of his free time listening to Bay Area rap pioneers like Too Short, E-40, and Mac Dre. At a young age he quickly learned to channel his thoughts and emotions through pen and paper. By the age of twenty he was known in his area as Martie Bacardii 151 and created his first album “The Last Call” inspired by his parents divorce, and the party lifestyle that was starting to consume him. Soon after, he was asked to join forces on the song “Pimpthangz” featuring Mac Dre, which was released in October 2002, on Cadillac Todd’s “The Great White Pimp.” Collaborating with other Bay Area artists, such as A-WAX, Martie Bacardii challenged his artistic ability by releasing a double CD entitled “The After Party.” As his buzz spread, he began performing at various bars and clubs including Club X, one of San Francisco’s largest venues at the time. Looking to broaden his audience he connected with Royalty, a popular San Jose artist with a massive MySpace following, and went on a tour through Los Angeles and Phoenix to promote his third album “The Fever”. In keeping with his new direction and growth as an artist he decided to change his stage name to Mardoe. Realizing that it’s the music capital of the world, Mardoe relocated to Los Angeles. Soon after, he released his next two albums, “The Fever Vol. 2” and “Blackout,” along with various singles on iTunes. This paved way to live shows and performances spanning Los Angeles County. On April 1, 2012, Mardoe was set to perform songs from his new mixtape “Game Changer” at La Fonda Supper Club in the MacArthur Park area. Part way into his set, he was attacked on stage by an unknown group of gang members, and narrowly escaped with his life. After recovering from this dramatic experience Mardoe used this ordeal to fuel the fire for his new untitled record, which is anticipated to be released late in the summer of 2013.
