简介
609 was formed in 1995 by brothers Richard and Brian Leneau, along with close family friend Matthew Jones, in San Diego, California as an Acoustic Rock Band. Richard & Brian played acoustic guitar and Matt played Bass guitar. A number of drummers cycled through the band in the few years which followed. Originally named June9th, after the date the band formed in 1995, the name was changed to the numeric representation of June 9 (609) in January, 1996. 609 continued to write and play coffeehouse-style Acoustic Rock music (Gin Blossoms, Simon & Garfunkel, Dryve, Toad the Wet Sprocket) through 1998 until Sean Garrigan joined the band as the drummer, Josh Shumate joined as the keyboardist, and Joey Shelly joined as the Lead Guitarist. Matthew Jones left the band to form the San Diego Black Metal Band Opus Majestic, and Brian Leneau moved to Bass Guitar. 609 released the Acoustic Rock Album "The Dance" in late 1998. By the end of 1998, however, the band was becoming progressively heavier and emerged in June 1999 with their second, self-titled album, "609". By the end of 1999, Josh Shumate and Sean Garrigan had left the band. Josh Chaney replaced Sean Garrigan on drums, and 609 emerged in early 2000 as a hard rock band. They were in the midst of recording their third album, "Darkside" when the band broke up in December of 2000. Today, Richard is married with two sons and continues to write music and is working on a solo project called rhl. Joey is also a family man, as well as the lead singer and guitarist for local San Diego Pop-Punk band Chasing Claymores. Brian has begun to write instrumental acoustic guitar music. Sean is now a family man, living in Ohio. Josh Shumate is a family man and Manager at the Cheesecake Factory (no he can't get you a discount). Josh Chaney still plays drums regularly, works as a Mechanic, rides motorcycles, and bears a striking resemblance to Jax from "Sons of Anarchy".
