These songs were written and recorded myself in living rooms, bedrooms, and anywhere else I could in Vermont, Virginia, and Tennessee, between 1998 and 2006. The chronological order of the songs fits the autobiographical nature of my writing. I got plenty of help from my family, Jesse O'Kane, John Donovan, Kevin Donovan and friends Jaya Wallack and Ashley Ironwood. The songs are an experiment in how to make art out of my personal experiences, and how to get an album produced with limited resources. The result is imperfect but honest. I have been playing guitar and singing for 25 years. I first learned guitar with Beatles songs and then discovered Scott Joplin, Bach, and Segovia. I studied classical guitar at Manhattan School of Music and have taken music workshops with Paul Winter and Ritchie Havens. I've studied voice with Rip Jackson and guitar with Paul Asbell. As a solo act I perform at farmer's markets, cafes, weddings, parties, outdoor gatherings, and benefits, doing originals, cover songs, and classical guitar music. I've played guitar in local theater productions of Children of Eden, The Sound of Music, Bernstein's Mass and numerous folk and Broadway productions at Grace Church in Rutland, VT. On the classical side I've been a vocal soloist in numerous early music concerts. People describing my music use words like beautiful, sad, great guitar playing, soothing, personal. I have a smooth baritone style similar to John Gorka's and a bit of Leo Kottke in my intricate fingerstyle arrangements.
