Marsha Attie is a Cantor at one of the largest synagogues in the country and her original compositions breathe new life into the Jewish soul. She brings a new and unique take that hippifies the sound of traditional Jewish music. "What matters to me is using my music to express the depths of my heart and soul and to use this experience to connect with the hearts and souls of others." Marsha Attie "I have a childhood memory that I often call to mind when I am singing. I was six years old, alone and standing in the driveway of my parents house. I was singing to, well I didn’t have words for it and still don’t, but you might say that I was singing to God or to the Divine presence. I remember a feeling that came over me of being in relationship, of connecting with something huge and bigger than myself. It’s funny that I remember that moment among all the millions of other moments that are lost to me. When singing prayerful music, I sometimes bring that moment to mind and it helps me remember where to send my prayers, how to sing my song." Marsha Attie Marsha's musical influences include Joni Mitchell, Bobby McFerrin, Ani DiFranco. "Shul was never like this when I was growing up!" Rabbi Benay Lappe
