Rated R Revival features 7 songs, meant as demos, and buried in the bowels of time. They're of a deep spiritual nature, and minister to things that other ministries see as taboo. Due to the dark lyrical content many are explicit. They transcend from Gospel to Americana. One music critic eluded that songwriter Benjamin Blankenship the father of "Southern Goth-pel", while this was by no means an effort to substantiate those claims, it would perhaps do so.
