简介
Chris was born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana. Growing up there, he was introduced to a variety of music and culture. From country to classic rock, from cajun and zydeco to rhythm and blues. These styles can be heard in his music. Some of his influences include: Conway Twitty, Merle Haggard, Elvis Presley, Tim McGraw, Keith Whitley, Hank Williams Jr, Garth Brooks, and The Eagles. Chris always showed interest in music, and at the age of 21 he decided to pursue it. He showed interest in the piano, so he bought a $79 keyboard and started teaching himself. He also had friends that played in local bands, that helped him learn. Not long after he started learning how to play music, his creative side became involved in music. He started experimenting with writing his own music. Along the way, he picked up on guitar. Since then, he\'s written and co-written over 100 songs. When people speak of Louisiana, they talk about the food, the culture, and the good times, but the music is in a league of its own. Louisiana has produced its share of top notch country acts. Tim Mcgraw, Kiks Brooks (of Brooks & Dunn), Sammy Kershaw and Trace Adkins are just examples of the quality that comes from this great state. Following in that tradition, singer/ songwriter Chris Himel has emerged as a force to be reckoned with in the country music scene. In 2003, Chris showed off his writing talents to the world by releasing his first CD, \"One For Me.\" All the songs on the CD were written by Chris, and he received great reviews from his peers. He spent the next year promoting the album around the south Louisiana area. In mid 2005, he decided is was time to go forth with another project. In March of 2007, after 18 months in the studio, he released his second CD, \"The Other Half.\" The CD continues to get radio airplay on stations throughout the area. Plans for a third album are in the works for 2009.
