After Savage's 4 star debut release in the spring of 2011 (Along the way...) he continued his writing of new material, testing the water with them during shows. 50% of all proceeds received by SavEdge Music/ David Savage for the downloading of Shine a Light sales will be donated to charity. About the songs: Shine a Light is a song of hope, written to help raise awareness and funds for charity to help women that have been victims of abuse. A Better Man is a song of personal growth, written from the perspective of a man fighting his way back to become what he believes he is capable of being. It's Perfect was written from a sarcastic perspective some feel when in the midst of a struggling relationship, while the struggle is often times within themselves. Shadows on the Paper was written from the perspective of having to say goodbye to someone close while being separated by distance. Forever Love, Amen was written to celebrate the lives of those that have left us, while rejoicing in the love we continually feel when we think of them. Shadows on the Paper was written in September of 2010 while the other four songs were written between June and November 2011. Savage performed at a festival celebrating Bob Dylan's 70th birthday in May of 2011. Backstage he met a facebook friend and organizer of the festival, Jacques Mees of Tilburg, The Netherlands. Jacques and David's real world friendship quickly grew and their mutual respect for each other's music brought them even closer. Savage and Mees decided to spend some time together in Jacque's studio. While not really knowing what their time together would bring, whether the writing of new material, performing together or something else. Something else is what happened, after Savage played a couple of his new songs they decided to see what they could put together. The result is "when the days get long", a journey through life's challenges, becoming stronger and feeling love in and as a result of life's darkest moments.
