This recording is the result of two longtime friends sitting down to make music together in an unrehearsed and spontaneous moment. The unique character of the Hang set the harmonic parameters of the musical expression and we just let a language of contemplation and worship emerge. With the exception of tracks 6 and 8 everything was recorded live and was completely improvised. Playing guitar with the Hang required accepting a limited musical spectrum in order to achieve a greater creative freedom. This paradoxical approach resulted in an exploration of the depth of creative expression in simplicity rather than reaching for a greater technical breadth in complexity. This approach demands that the artist seek a personal voice. The result is spontaneous personal expression, like conversation with a friends, rather than premeditated and rehearsed composition, like a soliloquy. It is, in fact, a conversation between longtime friends who now live on two continents, yet remain connected in the bond of music-making and worship.
