Being loved is a basic human need. I want to be loved. God calls us his beloved. Claiming our belovedness empowers us to live with ourselves and in relationship to others authentically and without fear. Henri Nouwen writes, "We do not simply become the beloved at our birth and cease being the beloved at our death. Our belovedness is eternal." God says to us, "I love you with an everlasting love." Our true identity is rooted in this unconditional, unlimited, everlasting love. I am grateful for family, friends, students, neighbours, co-workers, communities that have loved me along life's journey. I want to extend love to them. It's not always easy. Loving deeply is enacted in moments that are easy and hard. By forgiving, accepting, respecting, appreciating, caring and nurturing, I continue to learn about loving others more expansively and generously. Deeply Loved is a series of original songs crafted out of my own journey with the people I love.
