Influenced by the sounds of early hip-hop, UK producer and Upbeat protege Sonny started making tracks aged just 15. Working to a strict rule that each of his productions are born out of real life experience, the quality and originality of these three superb numbers reflects his inspiration. Here Sonny has crafted an energetic EP with a signature style which sets a very tough act to follow, produced through Fruity Loops and using a DAW of enviable potential. First of the trio is Forever Lost, a warm pulsing fast-paced trancer featuring a catchy breakbeat interlude and a climbing build combined with a searing synth which leaps from the speakers and cuts right through the air. Next up is Moving On which is produced around simple yet lethally effective piano notation with crisp clean percussion and a filtered earth-shaking crescendo of mammoth proportions. Finally Rush Hour brings the EP to a close with its soft and haunting breakdown driven by soft pads and emotional rises, its dramatic and layered key changes and its sharp plucky leads. With high aspirations, his next designs sounding increasingly tech-trance and his days at university coming to a close, this is one young man with a lot to offer.
