简介
This is the third studio album from Chris Nelson. This outing focuses on the blues and its influence on rock and roll as an American form of music. The styles range from heavy rock to folk rock and even some more modern-sounding indie rock. This album also features an instrumental partnership of eastern European folk and western rock music -- the first-ever of its kind titled "Dodecahedron" featuring Stani Steinbock playing the kantele, a Finnish folk instrument which sounds similar to a dulcimer. The album also features a folk rock track, "Dirty Little Secret" with his two daughters, Rachel and Julie Nelson, singing backing vocals. The music takes a few risks, in addition to the blues influence. The spacey "Uh-Oh" is a barrage of unusual synthesizer sounds over a grungy chorus. "I Remain" is a spooky country song with psychedelic overtones and a haunting chorus. "Chuck Norris" is a rock and roll tribute to the screen legend. The funky "Love Is.." is a mix of funk and garage rock. "Treadmill" and "Rainy Morning Blues" are traditional-sounding blues tunes, and "Flying" is an indie-pop tune. The whole album is a musical test bed, blending various styles and combinations of style in an attempt to create something new and unique, yet not completely unfamiliar.
