Emily McCrite has been making music for as long as she can remember. She joined her first band at the age of 9 and in the last decade, she has amassed thousands of hours of experience performing in a variety of bands and vocal ensembles, recording in the studio and writing songs. “Chasing Calm” comes at a turning point in her life as she moves from her familiar Los Angeles surroundings to make a new start in Seattle. It is at once an exploration of the anxiety/sadness/frustrations of being a teenager and an homage to her journey as an artist up to this point. For this recording, her first ever solo EP, she has complimented her own writing, singing, and bass/guitar/keyboard playing with a host of many talented friends she’s had the pleasure of working with along the way. The result is a haunting, lush and contemplative collage of sounds and emotions.
