During much of the last 25 years, he lived in Manhattan and Bridgehampton and worked in finance. Having focused on his dream to write and record his own music for the last few years, Mike's first full-length album, All The Pretty Things, is due out in early 2014. The demos have been well-reviewed and especially praised for their authentic feel, melodic twists and original stories. He counts Radiohead, The Who, Pink Floyd, George Harrison and Elliott Smith as his biggest musical influences. He lives in Larkspur, CA with his wife, three children and border collie mixed mutt, Layla. Press: “All The Pretty Things - “Opening sounds prophetic .. has a strong folk sound .. the vibe is authentic and honest .. acoustic guitar has a nice ring .. laid back vocals have a nice harmony and blend very well together ... I wantcha to know that this is the best record I've heard all day so far .. I love the melodic changes, especially in the chorus .. production wise it's also very top quality .. the producer did a professional job and that helps make this more marketable ..good luck in your success ... this sounds like it could make the top 40 on some radio stations.”” - Soundout (Dec 16, 2012) “The melody overall is unique and strong...(Take Me Back) has a very pleasant structure - things keep happening that are expected without being predictable. It feels like I'm being led gently through the song, which really shows the natural talent of the artist. The vocals are very distinctive and rich, and the lyrics are beautiful. I really enjoy how many directions this song takes and this artist has potential!” - Soundout (Dec 16, 2012) “Take Me Back - "...it has a very rootsy spiritual feel .. the singing has a beautiful blend that creates a unique harmony .. it sounds traditional and new .. it has a nostalgic retro feel, kinda like going back to the 50s and 60s pop music with a sense of artistic maturity .. guitar playing is sweet and has that 50s vintage sound, kind of basic and innovative .. has a nice groove .. the effects are well chosen ... the melody is very original and at the same time reflects on yesteryear .. it's got a clever dreamy chord progression and sounds like it could be a pretty big hit."” - Soundout (Dec 16, 2012) “All The Pretty Things - “…very melodic while being unpredictable - I love that I had no idea where the notes would take the song. The lyrics are beautiful... - besides that I think the semi-low production quality actually adds to the style of music. The instruments are all played skillfully and they give a real air of sadness to the song without being depressing. This whole song is very deep and inspiring, I will be adding this to a playlist for sure! I also love the harmonies, they're beautiful!”” - Soundout (Dec 16, 2012) Copyright 2014 - Mike Kennedy Music and Mike Kennedy Music Publications
