简介
Born and raised from St. Petersburg, FL Mahje is no stranger to the surroundings of his environment. Excelling well throughout his childhood years, Mahje was very active playing sports such as football, baseball, basketball, and track; alongside of maintaining a love for music/art. Growing up he knew that success would be a challenge but never once imagined failing at life. Writing became an instinct and slowly but surely another talent would be discovered. While attending Azalea middle school Mahje which stands for (Mellow And Humble Just Enjoy) an acronym of his orgin name Ahmad Jenkins was popular. "I remember a lot from middle school, it was just fun and adventerous." A little shy at times but his charm and sense of humor was genuine. After getting caught writing a love note to a girl he had a crush on in class, the teacher kept him after and worked with him on his unique writing skills. From that point he would eventually find a rythmn and some how incorporate poetry into his style of writing. It was all a dream like any other teenager to play professional ball for the NFL. His responsibilities to do well and exceed would be distracted. Lacking in academics the 5'6 phenom would fall a step short of pursuing his childhood dream. After graduating high school Mahje attended Bethune-Cookman college in Daytona, FL. It only took a semester to realize that his focus was a little offset. Rejuvinating shortly after, Mahje enrolled at Carson-Newman College earning a partial athletic scholarship. Once again the intention spand of a degree evaporated, and one year later he returned home. Sustaining multiple jobs Mahje was stuck in reality and being able to adjust was a struggle. "It was hard but i'm not a quitter, so it was all or nothing for me." After facing a situation jeopardizing his life, the love for music formed into passion; an articulate way of expressing the emotions of stress, pain, and joy was an introduction to Mahje's music career. Recording music transitioned from a hobby to an unpaid part time job, investing time and knowledge amongst his craft. School was apparently out of the question at this point and sacrifices were made in order to survive. In 2010/2011 he would gain a buzz off a single titled "So Arrogant" which featured hip hop legend and pioneer JT Money for the G-mix(remix) and is now a clothing brand he plans to launch soon. Far from your average John Doe Mahje has a vision and is very determined to succeed if its the last thing he does. In and out of school, working several jobs, making sure family is secure seems to have been a focus from the start. "My parents dont have a college degree. I've witnessed them working hard trying to make ends meet just to make sure i was good growing up. I guess you can say its in the bloodline cause work is all i know; all i know is work and nothing will work unless you do, ya know." Over a decade ago we were screaming "I wanna be like mike" (reciting the chant from the infamous "air jordan" commercial). Years to come kids will more than likely be yellin the same for Mahje; Mellow and humble just enjoy a well balanced human being.
