This project was recorded in part during winter break in early 2010 and the main portion was completed during a few short weeks in June before I jumped on a plane and headed off to Jordan for two months.  I spent the entire summer in the hot middle-Eastern landscape digging in the desert.  Returning to Colorado for only a few days, we put the final touches on ‘Ocean.’   This Fall I’m back at John Brown University in Northwest Arkansas continuing my study of music.  It makes me wonder how we ever got this album recorded at all.    Life seems such a tempestuous trip of various ports of call.  The songs on this record reflect my passion for relationship and an attempt to show how through brokenness we can find strength.  My hope is that the universal language of music can express what many feel.  One of my favorite songwriters penned the lyric, “you won’t return my calls and that makes God the only one who is left to listen.” I believe this sums up the project.  In the beginning there is hope, then reality, then heartbreak, then hope again.  Yet in the end, it’s only through God’s provision that we can navigate this Ocean.
