Alder & Ash is a counterpoint of two extremes. The music lies in stillness, introversion, and penitence. It lies in violence, cacophony, and angst. Alder & Ash plays cello with loop pedal to create improvised minimal classical music, with influence of doom metal, ambient, post-rock and noise.

"Psalms for the Sunder" is the debut release of Alder & Ash, as the title suggests it is a study of downfall and collapse. The work explores the boundaries, the desolation and despair, among the edges of things come undone. In that tension and space it finds not only cacophony, violence and decay, but also stillness and calm.
