Give The Best You've Got comes across with highly vitalized and "primitive" drum rhythms, to make the point that if we give the best of ourselves, especially in love, we can have wonderful success that is shared on both sides, whether in love or otherwise striving, while Speak To My Heart, a tender love song, is about unity even in disagreement, harmony even in the act of quarreling, suggesting that human beings will have disagreement but that it need not shatter the general continuing harmony that exists between and among them. But the album also deals with another kind of love, and how the politics of war shatters this concept of love of human beings for each other's communities and general welfare, general concern for one another. War shatters the lives of ordinary people and brings a sorrow that never seems to fade with the recurrence of past memories. Will we wake up in time in our world to avoid the supreme tragedy of a war to end all wars? The album asks these questions and looks forward with some kind of hope to some unusual blend of Republican and Democratic leader capable of uniting and building with love. This is music sincerely poured out with an emphasis on truly meaningful lyrics that invite us to partake of it with a positive effect on our own thoughts of love, with a view to touching our lives with the harmony of loving intentions, from the alternative rap of Cam K and the Fellowship group in Hoping For Love and Looking For a Really Good Woman to the powerful effects in The Trick In Politics, which asks us to focus on the love between individuals that should be allowed to radiate in communities and flourish without the disastrous consequences of war. Love!Love!Love! However we conceive it, Is what we need to bless our lives in today's harsh world of brutal reality.
